Explore the remote wonders of Mt Owen and Mt Olympus by helicopter, key filming locations in the Lord of the Rings movies.

Trip Overview

Get the ultimate scenic helicopter experience combining two Lord of the Rings film location sites.

At 6150 feet above sea level Mt Owen (Dimrill Dale and Moria) is the highest point in Kahurangi National Park. As water flows over these limestone rocks, it slowly dissolves them, revealing cracks and caves, including New Zealand’s longest – Bulmer Cavern.

At Mt Olympus explore the rugged country south of Rivendell, featuring spectacular, ancient granite spires. Enjoy spectacular views of the Nelson basin, passing by the dragon’s teeth and looking into Golden Bay.

We will also fly past Chetwood Forest (Canaan Downs) as an added extra.

Allow 3 hours (approx 90 minute flight). Minimum passenger numbers apply.
